Orneriness

So I've been pretty ornery the last couple of days. Mainly it's because I don't always get my way. What's up with that? I'm cute, I'm social, and I've got awesome walking skills. So I throw a tantrum when Mommy doesn't read "Pajama Time" 99 times. I like to "express" my frustration by angrily grabbing at things, stomping, crying, etc...

The other day, during my "tantrum", I scratched my under eye area. I cried hard. At first, Mommy couldn't figure out why I was crying so hard, like I was in pain. (because I was, stupid Mommy!) After awhile, the area was just reddish, but now I've got a full-fledged boo-boo. Mommy thinks I actually clawed it, not just scratched it, because it's starting to look a little scabby. (I'm fine overall Paka, calm down)

Did I learn my lesson? Nope. The next day, I tried to bite Mommy during a tantrum. I don't understand why, but Mommy was NOT impressed with my effort. Whatever, she's not a 19 month old, she doesn't know what I have to put up with!

I suppose it'll all work itself out (in the wash so to speak).

The extra cuddling I'm giving Mommy helps her deal with my naughty times. It's the least I can do, you know.

In other news, she managed to get my hair into an actual ponytail today. Exciting!

Oh, do you like my snazzy sweater? Granny crocheted it for me. She's got mad crochet skills.

Language Development

Tonight I started saying something that sounded like "zee bow-wow".

Mommy and Daddy don't know what it means. I do. I'm not telling. They're happy that my abilities are expanding.

I really enjoy when I discover a new sound. I like to repeat it. A lot.

Running Errands

I took a walk to the mailbox to mail off my Netflix.

Horticulture

Mommy and I enjoyed a picture-taking jaunt in the backyard. I got to sniff lots of things.

Roses.

Rose Petals.

Basil.

More Roses.

Lavender.

I enjoyed talking with Mr. Owl. I had a good discourse with him about the mint plant.

Look, it's a garden gnome!

Nope. It's me. Haha.

I enjoyed shoving plants in my nose, etc... but Mommy's the one who got two ant bites on her back in 5 minutes. Go figure.

Walking

The other day, I walked 3 blocks with Mommy and Shelly. Yesterday, I walked around the block. I'm a big girl with awesome skills.

My Social Calendar

Today I got to have a lot of social interaction. Jess, Grace, and Becca came over this morning. I haven't gotten to play with Grace in awhile - particularly as she is older, and had already moved up to the next class in sunday school. Later in the day, I got to play with Bruce. Each of them are about 6 months different than me - one older, one younger. Mommy found it interesting how differently the play was with each. Interesting.

I was really excited to see Becca up close. I like baby dolls - and she's still just a little bigger than one. I was very good about not touching her though. :)

This evening, I got to go to Mommy's dr. appt with her and Daddy. It was "fun" to see Dr. White (he delivered me) and his office ladies. Nothing more exciting then Mommy getting examined. !!!

Potty!

Mommy and Daddy taught me the sign for potty. They tell me when they're going potty, they show me potties, they talk about potty when I poop. You get the idea.

Tonight, I was having special Daddy time while Mommy was at orchestra. I came over to him, pointed at my diaper, and said "eww". Daddy asked if I went potty, and I responded by grabbing on to his neck. He took me upstairs where it was revealed that I had, in fact, pooped.

This was a momentous first.

Today's Happenings

First, a funny story. I was sitting on Mommy's lap at the computer, and I picked up her nose spray (it had the lid on, don't worry). I stuck the pointy end in my nose and sniffed. Haha! Mommy was very amused.

For the first time today, I hung out in the backyard with Mommy - standing and walking around! Yay! She had to hang up the laundry, and I explored my surroundings.

Now that I'm walking, Mommy's not as grossed out by my having direct contact with nature. In honor of this, I picked a weed. Eww.

I spent a lot of time at my swing - putting stuff on it, taking stuff off it, etc...

Here I am with the laundry. I didn't help today, but Mommy has big plans for me in this area.

Progress

I'm happy to report that my main mode of transportation is now walking. I hardly scooted, crawled, or knee-walked yesterday. It was awesome. I also fell down at one point and bit my lip - there was a little blood - but after some Mommy cuddling, I was back up on my feet.

Also, I no longer like to crawl up the stairs, but rather walk up them. Mommy holds my hands and gives me some leverage, but I'm the one doing all the work. It's awesome.

Scary.

Today we went to Media for the Super Media Garage Sale Day. Everyone in Media has their garage sale on the same day. Awesome.

Mommy and I were walking around (literally, I was walking too) waiting on Daddy (who was getting his hair cut). There were some cheerleaders across the street giving away "free" Starbucks coffee (for a donation). They were cheering, and throwing each other up in the air, usual cheerleader stuff.

I loved it! I kept smiling and waving at them. One girl came over to give me some mardi gras type beads, but Mommy politely refused them as I am too young for them. That, and the last time I got my hands on some, it was not a pretty sight. There was a lot of throwing and slinging of beads.

Mommy's worried. As you know, Daddy was a respected cheerleader at his university. Mommy's worried because she thinks I've gotten Daddy's cheer leading gene. As you know, Mommy has no cheer leading genes. She can't even touch her toes. I can stand on one leg, with the other fully extended into the air (while holding on to something). I can do the french splits. I'm almost freakishly flexible. It doesn't come from Mommy.

Mommy told Daddy long ago if I got his cheer leading genes, then he'd have to be the one to take me to all that stuff.

Muahaha!

Cotton Babies

I continue to be very happy with my bum genius diapers, which Mommy bought for me at Cotton Babies. They last me overnight - with a doubler - so that I sleep soundly. Happy days. Mommy has also enjoyed "other" products that they sell. We all know what I'm talking about. Not to mention that they ship stuff out super fast.

Walking Machine

This morning I walked part way around the block with Mommy. I was stylin' in my cloth diaper, rain jacket, and tennis shoes.

I was very excited to see the trucks and motorcycles driving by. I waved at the trash truck, and he honked back. I was mildly taken aback by the loud sound.

I also learned not to touch the trash. Mommy said "eww" when I tried to the first couple of times. After that, when I saw trash (it's trash pickup day by the way) I would point at it and say "eww".

Pictures

Here I am in my long johns riding my scooter. Fun times.

Here I am at church in the nursery. That's Sammy in the background with Barb. He's a cute kid. Not that I'm saying anything Brucie!

Paka and Grammy

I like this picture of Paka and Grammy. They often stare romantically into the distance.

Sweet!

Here's the awesome rocking chair I got from Uncle Mike. It's from at least the 1920's, if not older. It's now a part of our family to be passed down through the generations.

Paka and Grammy came to visit last week. We had a great time. The pictures from our first day together are on a CD - and it won't let Mommy copy to the computer...so just imagine how cute I was (a)walking around a parking lot (b) at the Wilbur Bud factory (c) with Daddy getting ready to go out to eat...etc... you get the idea.

The second day, we went to Longwood Gardens.

Here we are at Longwood Gardens. Such a beautiful day - I am overcome with joy.

Here I am with Mommy in the Conservatory. Such beautiful plant life.

That night, we went to eat at Carraba's. Look how much food they brought me! It was delicious.

Walking Machine

I'm a walking machine. I can walk independently across the entire downstairs. I can even carry stuff in my hands while walking. I rock.

In other news, Mommy has a lot of pictures to post, but blogger is still giving her an issue.

I'm finally done with PT. I'm glad. Mommy's glad.

Labor Day

Yesterday, Mommy and I went with Daddy to school. He had a few things to finish up. Here I am hanging out in the classroom.

Action shot - I've got places to go and things to get into!

Fairy Sighting

Daddy caught a fairy yesterday and brought it home. She lives in the fairy cage in my room now.

This is the primary artist of fairies that Mommy likes. Her plan is to give me one each Christmas for my fairy cage (until I outgrow it anyway). The interesting thing about Cicely Mary Barker (the artist, from back in the day) is that she created the flower/plant fairies to look like their plant counterpart - the detail and such is really neat.

Naps

Every day I take a good nap - sometimes more than 3 hours. Today, I refused to nap. Now, at 3:30, when I normally wake up, I've just fallen asleep on the couch sitting up. Yes, I can type in my sleep. I'm very cute, but Mommy can't get a picture without waking me up.

Once Again

It was another naked poopless morning for me. I was awake at some point in the middle of the night - not crying or anything, just playing in my crib. So I slept later this morning. Which is all fine and good, but we had a PT appointment this morning. So Mommy got me up at 8:30 (when I might have slept till at least 9). I cried when I saw her because she had rollers in her hair, and I was just waking up. Once I realized a horrible monster wasn't attacking me, it was all good. Mommy got me downstairs - both of us dressed and ready for PT (at 9) when the PT called and cancelled. Figures.
