shh...

don't tell bruce, but I hung out with his cousin logan today...

A Dreary Day

The good news about a dreary day (or at least morning) is that I get to wear my raincoat and rain boots. Fun! Here I am on my way to the local diner for a late Saturday morning breakfast with the whole family.

Exercising and Socializing

2x a week, mommy hauls us to the state park so she can exercise. Good news is I get to exercise as well and hang out with Grace.

A Walk

I walked all the way to Aldi and back...the only thing I was grumpy about was wearing the hat - Mommy chose to not fight that battle. She was just happy I walked all the way there and back without complaining. Go me.

Goings On

I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus, but that's because I've been super busy entertaining out-of-town guests...

Paka and Grammy!!!

We did lots of fun stuff while they were here. One day we went to the Reading Terminal Market. I was a bit of a toot, but deep down inside, I really enjoyed it. Really, I did.

Another day, we went out to Amish land. We played on the playground....

Fed the animals....

and rode in an Amish buggy. This was super fun. The amish girl let me and Mommy sit up front, and I even got to hold the reins, and drive the horses. When we got back, the amish girl let me help her tie up the horses. She was super sweet, and we learned a lot from her. *yes we got a picture of an amish girl, but it was unintentional, lest you think we were those annoying picture taking tourists*

Of course, we had to take time out for occasional fashion shows...

and crayons... *that is when Paka would let me do it too*

not to mention hangin' out with my sister. I'm a real help to Mommy with Rose related chores - laundry, diapers, etc...

Praying

Mommy and I have started praying together in the morning.

"Dear Jesus, please help Mommy to be kind and gentle. Please help Willow to not be ornery. Please help baby Rose to be ok. Please keep Daddy safe at work. I love you Jesus. Amen."

Today in the van, I was talking to myself, and after Mommy listened for a few moments, she realized I was saying the prayer all on my own.

"Jesus. Rose. Wawa. Daddy. Mommy. Amen." (there were connecting words in there, or rather sounds...but mommy couldn't quite make them out)

I'm sure we'll be expanding on this as I get older....

A Pic

Finally, mommy got some batteries...about time.

Here I am being humid. You can just see the humidity in the picture.

I was very helpful to Mommy in the grocery store today. I kept suggesting things we should get, and occasionally trying to put them in the cart. I'm such an impulse buyer.

A Language Barrier

So I'm learning new words all the time, as mentioned before. I also have strange little 2 year old habits/rituals.

My daytime diapers have some sort of cartoon girl on them. I call these diapers my "girls".

My nighttime diapers have disney princesses on them. One time, the diaper featured Ariel (I don't actually know who that is), and it was explained to me that she is a mermaid. So now, whenever I see any disney princesses anywhere (and trust me, they're everywhere) I say that they are mermaids. So...therefore I refer to my nighttime diapers as "mermaids" - which comes out like "more-nays".

Every morning, I run into the closet room with whichever parent, and have to say (repeatedly) - "bye bye more-nays" and then "hi girls" to signify the changing of the diaper.

Every evening before bed, I run into the closet room with whichever parent and have to say "hi more-nays" and "bye bye girls".

Sometimes I need to say it a few times until whichever parent it is remembers that they too have to greet the new diaper, and bid the other diaper farewell.

Today, when I brought Mommy my diaper for naptime (seriously, why don't I just use the toilet all the time) I told her it was the last diaper in my own 2 yr old way. Mommy thought it was possible, but didn't check. When she went to babies r us to get my purple shoes, she picked up some more daytime diapers just in case. (in fact, I was correct in letting her know I was out of my girls)

I was very excited to get more "girls".

Wait a minute - these are a name brand. So it isn't some random cartoon girl...it's...MORE-NAYS.

This caused some confusion.

So it was explained to me that they are daytime mermaids, and the coloring is slightly different, and the others are nighttime mermaids. The rest of the evening, I had to talk about my daytime and my night-night mermaids. Seriously. All. Evening. Long.

*the absorbency is greater for the nighttime diapers, so yes, there is an actual difference*

Updates

Well, what've I been up to...

* my speech is getting better every day (as well as pronunciation). I like to bust out with complete sentences on occasion (when the mood strikes me)
* i'm enjoying crayons and finger painting a lot. I drew the letter C the other day, and said "look mom, C". and sure enough, it was the letter C. no one's taught me this. i'm a natural. at least with the letter C.
* i hum twinkle twinkle in tune. which is interesting, b/c i've only heard the ABC version, but I hum the twinkle version (different rhythm) - again, natural genius at work here.
* my gross motor skills are really improving - i'm almost like other kids my age. almost (when it comes to this - climbing, running, etc)
* i say pardon me and please without prompting (most of the time). now we're working on "Excuse me" so that i don't interrupt mommy and daddy.
* i've also progressed to "time-outs" when i'm naughty. (hence the egg timer) i'll let you know how effective that is...MUAHAHA!!!
