Pictures

Daddy and I smooched like 20 times, and Mommy still couldn't get a picture of the actual smooch... Instead, here's a series of pictures of us almost smooching.

Comparison

And just b/c I can, here I am in my 1 yr picture vs. the 2 yr picture...

2 Yr Picture

I had my 2 yr picture done (b/c mommy had a coupon), and here are the out-takes...

and here's the one we picked as our one pose for the coupon deal...

Pictures

Mommy got this jean overall/dress thing for me at the thrift store awhile ago - it just is fitting me now. Take note that there are purple butterflies on it. How perfect. And it was like a buck.

Teeth

I have at least 3 molars cutting through right now. This explains so much to Mommy.

Language

So much of my communication with Mommy is a guessing game for her as she tries to decipher various things I say. One breakthrough... I say something that sounds like "hi" for hair. (i don't know why, we're working on it). So I started saying the same "hi" sound for chair...which rhymes with hair...oooo.

The other night, I kept going "hi" over and over to Daddy. Mommy says "I know that means something, b/c it sounds like something else, but I can't remember what it is".

Geesh... how am I supposed to improve? I finally pointed to the chair, and Mommy remembered it (finally).

We're also utilizing the "why don't you show me what you want" technique...I like to take Mommy or Daddy by the hand to show them what I want. They like to think this is helping to reinforce my language development... whatever... I get what I want, and that's what matters. :)

Improvements

After a couple of touch-n-go days, I'm doing much better.

Here are some action shots....

The Law of Pooping

*as applies to those who aren't potty trained*

If one must have a runny poop, one must either be laying down or in a seated position, so as to allow the maximum amount of said poop to exit the diaper, and to find its way onto every other conceivable surface within a near distance. Extra points are awarded if any gets on the people involved in the clean-up process.

Wow

Not my best day today. I have exceeded all previous levels of tootness. Mommy thinks it's b/c of my teeth... but seriously... I chalk it up to Mommy and Daddy being morons and not understanding my every grunted nuance. And they call themselves the adults.

The only thing that really made me happy today was Sunday school. I really like the class, and I get closer every week to actively participating.

In other news, Shelly's mom made me this cute hat for Christmas - after a brief size adjustment :) I got it today. Aren't I cute.

Adventures in Pooping

This morning I had my 2 yr well visit with the dr. I really like the dr (so does mommy). She is so nice and gentle and soothing, and I made it through the whole appointment without crying. (which is why mommy likes her - she's got the right approach) I got one shot (yuck), but didn't cry at all. I'm such a big girl :)

Here are my stats...

weight - 31 lbs 5 oz
height - 35 1/2 inches (that's almost 3 feet tall!)
my head is still big and off the charts, but not as off the charts as it used to be.

Afterwards, we headed out for a bevy of errands. Let me preface this story with I was wearing a disposable b/c of these errands, and mommy was feeling a little lazy...

So... we're leaving the parking garage at the hospital when I poop. It's stinky, but we don't think much of it. Poops are always stinky. There was some debate as to where to go first, and home depot is decided upon. When Daddy got me out of the car, Mommy noticed my poop had EXPLODED out of my diaper. Yuck. So Mommy and I headed to the potty. I got stripped down and cleaned up... but my clothes were not in wearable shape. This is the first instance of this since I was a little baby, so Mommy was not prepared. I had to go completely pantless throughout Home Depot. When it was time to leave, Daddy wrapped me up in his coat, and they lined my poop filled car seat with a plastic bag. What fun.

Mommy is hesitant to classify this as diarrhea b/c of the situation, poop texture, etc... Nonetheless, Mommy is taking a cue from Bruce's recent troubles and feeding me a particular diet until we're sure.

Otherwise I'm fine. Mommy and Daddy are a little scarred, and only moderately poop covered.

Today

We went this morning with Bridget and Bruce to get my 2 yr picture done. It was mostly fun times. I think the picture turned out really cute, and should be available online in a week or so.

The girl that took my picture was very nice...but she had this "tickle wand" which was basically a feather duster...which she kept poking me with. Apparently my repeated clinging to Mommy and shrinking in fear and disgust were not enough to let this woman know to stop using her blasted "tickle wand". Oh well. Like I said, we got a cute picture, and that's what counts.

I mostly had a good time with Bruce - when I wasn't throwing a fit for being kept in my stroller, or when he wasn't sad because we were keeping him out too long... in between those "moments", we had smiles and giggles, but no kisses (threat of cold keeps our love apart).

All in all, we both seemed to survive - I had a good nap at home (thank God), and look forward to spending some QT with Daddy.

Two!

I'm two today - yay! In honor of the big event, I had Grace and Bruce over to celebrate.

Here's my cupcake - homemade lemon cupcake with frosting (Mommy made it lavender just for me). It was very tasty, and actually a little too sweet for me, but I did enjoy a few bites.

A picture of the "spread"...

Here I am playing with Grace and Bruce.

I actually tried to blow out my candles. Then, Grace decided to help too - Mommy's making a face because Grace is blowing on Mommy, and not the candle so much... but it was a good try.

Not to mention I got another package in the mail, and even something from our next door neighbor. Wow!

Now I'm cranky pants b/c I stayed up past my naptime, my teeth are bothering me, and just generally I enjoy giving Mommy a hard time. :)

Even More Bday Fun

Holy Moley...I got another package this afternoon - this time from Paka and Grammy... books glorious books... and the big hit, my very own calculator.

More Bday Fun

Got some gifts from granny today - check out what she made me and my baby doll...

this cute poncho and hat...

and this bathrobe and baby blanket - i got mine for christmas, and baby doll got hers for my bday.

and of course, a matching purse for my poncho...

Sunday School

I LOVE Sunday school. When it was time to go downstairs for it yesterday, I was clapping my hands and smiling really big. Mommy would ask "are you ready to go to class?" and I would get VERY excited.

Once down the stairs, she set me down, and I tried to take off running to the right door (no nursery for me, I'm a big girl now). Once she got the gate open to the room, I ran in without looking back.

Mommy's noticing an improvement as well in my "acting like a big girl" skills - how I try to use words, how I move my body around, etc...

However, after last weeks fiasco of Mommy having to actually haul me out of the class (b/c I didn't want to go) and then having a big fit for her, she sent Daddy down to get me. This time, I only managed to dump a cup of water on the both of us (mild in comparison, and really not done in anger), but I was still PO'd that I had to leave....

New Addition

I got a little b-day $$, and yes, Mommy should have done something sensible with it, bla bla bla... but instead, I got a couple of new tops and this awesome baby doll. I really like this baby doll - in fact, I have taken a particular shine to it right away - favoring it over my other baby dolls. Not sure why.

You'll notice in the picture that I'm sporting the Grace-inspired sundress over jeans look. This kind of fashion branching out is a first for Mommy and I, but it's a winner.

The Bright Side

Generally, it is not a good thing living far away from family and not getting to see them on a frequent basis.

BUT...

One very tangible benefit is that they send their gifts for bdays (and such) via the mail, which means when they arrive, I get to open them (b/c frankly, Mommy can't wait either)... and so begins my birthday week :)

Here I am opening a part of the first wave...

And here's a picture Mommy took of me this weekend b/c she thought I looked so grown up. (this is one of my 47 cents old navy hats)

In other news, I'm working very hard on saying "I love you (or mama, dada, paka, medea (for grammy), etc...) and am getting rather good. Also, when Mommy or Daddy asks "how old are you?", i respond with "two"... most of the time... if i'm in the mood to be their performing monkey. parents... geesh.

ok, one last picture for the cute files...

I like snuggling with my babies.

Haha

I've been tyring to teach Willow "I love you" - we do each word separately, and she's pretty good. For the first few times. Now, when we get to "you", she says "bruce" isntead :)

Play Date

Beloved Bruce and I had a play date today so Bridget could help Mommy pretend to be crafty.

Here we are enjoying some after meal snacks - mine is a delicious flaxseed tortilla chip with spinach and onion flavor from Trader Joe's. These chips are really good...really really good.
