A Language Barrier

So I'm learning new words all the time, as mentioned before. I also have strange little 2 year old habits/rituals.

My daytime diapers have some sort of cartoon girl on them. I call these diapers my "girls".

My nighttime diapers have disney princesses on them. One time, the diaper featured Ariel (I don't actually know who that is), and it was explained to me that she is a mermaid. So now, whenever I see any disney princesses anywhere (and trust me, they're everywhere) I say that they are mermaids. So...therefore I refer to my nighttime diapers as "mermaids" - which comes out like "more-nays".

Every morning, I run into the closet room with whichever parent, and have to say (repeatedly) - "bye bye more-nays" and then "hi girls" to signify the changing of the diaper.

Every evening before bed, I run into the closet room with whichever parent and have to say "hi more-nays" and "bye bye girls".

Sometimes I need to say it a few times until whichever parent it is remembers that they too have to greet the new diaper, and bid the other diaper farewell.

Today, when I brought Mommy my diaper for naptime (seriously, why don't I just use the toilet all the time) I told her it was the last diaper in my own 2 yr old way. Mommy thought it was possible, but didn't check. When she went to babies r us to get my purple shoes, she picked up some more daytime diapers just in case. (in fact, I was correct in letting her know I was out of my girls)

I was very excited to get more "girls".

Wait a minute - these are a name brand. So it isn't some random cartoon girl...it's...MORE-NAYS.

This caused some confusion.

So it was explained to me that they are daytime mermaids, and the coloring is slightly different, and the others are nighttime mermaids. The rest of the evening, I had to talk about my daytime and my night-night mermaids. Seriously. All. Evening. Long.

*the absorbency is greater for the nighttime diapers, so yes, there is an actual difference*
